Tensions are rising in Marine Park as residents prepare for a major protest this weekend in response to several controversial proposals impacting their community.
Neighbors gathered at a packed meeting at the Carmine Carro Community Center to voice frustration over what they say is a lack of transparency and local input on citywide changes.
Residents were handed flyers promoting the upcoming “Battle for Brooklyn Trifecta” march, an event organizers say goes beyond protest.
Among the major concerns are the proposed Coyle Street homeless shelter, lithium-ion battery storage sites and growing pushback against the city’s “City of Yes” zoning initiative.
Residents say these changes are being forced on them without meaningful consultation, and they’re ready to speak out.
The march is scheduled for Sunday, June 1, with hundreds expected to attend.
