Police are trying to figure out who stabbed a man to death overnight near a subway station in Brooklyn.
The stabbing happened just before 1 a.m. Wednesday on Fulton Street near the Van Siclen Avenue subway stop in Cypress Hills.
Police say a man believed to be in his 40s was found with stab wounds to his chest and back. EMS rushed him to Brookdale Hospital, where he later died.
By sunrise, police tape still surrounded part of the block as investigators searched for clues.
Right now, investigators have not released the man’s identity or said what may have led up to the stabbing. No description of the person responsible has been released, and no arrests have been made.
Neighbors tell News 12 the man appeared to be well known in the area, and many are surprised.
“I know the kid, he say hi to my mom and my pops every day,” longtime neighbor Xavier Asqui said. “The way I know him he’s very respectful so it’s kind of shocking to hear that.”
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
