Police say both a robbery and a stabbing occurred Wednesday at the 161st Street station, otherwise known as the Yankee Stadium station.
Investigators said at 4:30 p.m., they received calls of a robbery on the D train.
When they arrived, they said they found a 50-year-old man with his lip slashed and his phone stolen.
Police say they also received calls of a stabbing just before 10:30 p.m. on the northbound 4 train platform. When they arrived, they said a 42-year-old man was stabbed once on the left side of his abdomen.
Upon further investigation, police said a group of three people approached the 42-year-old and got into a verbal argument with him before the situation turned violent.
Riders told News 12 this kind of transit violence isn't shocking.
One rider, Antonio, said commuters should always be aware of their surroundings.
"The best thing is to have awareness and to understand how to read the room...So, when things get out of control, you know when to exit the train," he said.
Police say both victims are in stable condition.
