A Honduran man was indicted for murder Tuesday in a deadly shooting behind a Huntington Station deli last month.
Prosecutors say Carlos Castro shot and killed Steven Rocco in broad daylight after an argument on Pulaski Road.
The shooting took place behind One Stop Deli on April 20, and everything was captured on surveillance video.
Prosecutors say an eyewitness was able to intervene and briefly separate the two, but moments later Castro allegedly approached Rocco with a handgun and fatally shot him once.
Castro then allegedly ran from the scene, changed his phone number, got about $3,000 from friends and family and tried to leave the country.
But was caught in Alabama with assistance from the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, officials say.
He was arrested on April 23 and extradited back to New York on Monday.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer to deport Castro following this prosecution.
The 27-year-old faces 25 year to life in prison if convicted.
