An American Bully attacked three women and one child in East Patchogue on Tuesday at a school bus stop.
All had minor cuts and scratches from the 9-year-old dog, police say, and were taken to the hospital.
The call was made to police around 8:45 a.m. to North Dunton and Patchogue Avenue.
The attack was witnessed as students were getting on the bus, and some students who already boarded, watched it all happen.
The dog belongs to someone who lives on Dunton Avenue, who has been in contact with police.
The Health Department, SPCA and Town Animal Control were notified of the incident.
The following statement was released from the South Country Central School District Superintendent Antonio Santana:
"We are deeply saddened by an incident that occurred this morning involving one of our students at a bus stop. The student was injured by an unsupervised dog and our thoughts are with the child and their family during this difficult time. We are hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
Parents of students who were on the bus at the time were promptly notified. Additionally, all students who were on the bus and/or witnessed the incident were seen by the school social worker today and will continue to receive follow-up support as needed.
The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority. We are working closely with local authorities as they review the circumstances surrounding this incident."
