A man is facing charges in connection with the shooting of a dog in Greenwood, police say.

As News 12 reported, the dog was shot last Wednesday in front of 218 31st St.

Police say Adrian Benitez opened fire toward another person but struck the 7-year-old female dog instead.

Benitez was arrested Tuesday and was charged with attempted murder, three counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and aggravated cruelty to animals.
