A man accused of attacking his wife and her two young children with a baseball bat now faces murder charges.
A judge upgraded Adbulrahim Sulaiman's charges on Thursday morning, days after one of the victims died of his injuries.
The incident happened on Sept. 25 in Bridgeport.
Sulaiman appeared in court with a full face hood after marshals say he fought with them and spit on them during his first court appearance.
Sulaiman is now charged with the murder of 6-year-old Jathan Escobar. Escobar's mother and 4-year-old brother survived.
The little boy's family was in court and said Sulaiman was abusive.
"He would basically beat her," said Kaylynn Tejera, Escobar's cousin. "He would beat the mother of his kids. And she would tell my aunt."
Sulaiman has a long criminal history. He will be back in court on Oct. 23.
