Residents of Mount Vernon neighborhood are reporting a large police presence on South Second Avenue late Tuesday night.
The street was quiet Wednesday morning, but residents said that was not the case hours earlier.
Several people said they saw dozens of officers responding to some type of incident.
Mount Vernon officials said they could not confirm what prompted the response.
One neighbor said he saw a helicopter overhead and officers surrounding a home at 418 South Second Avenue.
Residents said the activity surprised them. "This is a nice neighborhood. I don't see no crimes happening, nothing. This is a peaceful neighborhood. So all that's happening, I just wish it would stop," said resident Karen Salmon.
