6 arrested after pounds of fentanyl and heroin found in Highbridge apartment
Police say six men were arrested after a court-authorized search in an apartment in Highbridge.
Authorities say over 6 pounds of fentanyl valued over $500,000 was seized from the location at 1311 Mermaid Ave.
Bottles of counterfeit xylazine (a veterinary tranquilizer) were also found at the scene.
Investigators say the narcotics were found throughout the apartment, including a baby bouncy seat.
Agents had observed suspicious activity in the building, including men entering and leaving with bags. Investigators also say garbage bags exiting the building also had materials associated with drug packaging, including disposable respirator masks and glassine envelopes with powdery residue.
The residue was tested by NYPD and tested positive for fentanyl.
Three of the men tried to flee out of the fire escape and the other three men were located inside the apartment.
Investigators found fentanyl and other substances throughout the apartment including a packaging table in the living room.
The men arrested were identified as Wandely Garcia 43, Ramon Pena Jimenez 58, Juan Garcia Villa 65, Wendilson Henriquez Hiciano 31, Wanny Castillo Sanchez 30, and Carlos Garcia 42, are all facing charges for criminal possession of a Controlled Substance and criminally using drug Paraphernalia
