It's one of the oldest family run farms in the country, and is a popular destination for family fun. But -- what many don't know — is that
Lyman Orchards is one of only two 45-hole
golf properties in Connecticut.
The first course opened in 1968. The Robert Trent Jones Course is a preferred golf course for most of players. It is one of only a few public Robert Trent Jones golf courses that you can play in the area, so it’s super unique.
The Gary Player Golf Course was built in 1994. Three holes are located right in an apple orchard.
Executive Vice President John Lyman chuckles as he says, "We know some golfers may help themselves as part of experience."
In 2012, Lyman Orchards Golf Club opened its Apple Nine Golf Course. This is a nine -hole- course designed with the beginner in mind.
General Manager Jason Beffert says, "I love being out here, playing golf, and where else can you go spend four hours outside in the beautiful weather, hanging out with your friends?"
The restaurant at the golf club,
1741 Pub & Grill is celebrating five years. The restaurant hosts many events including live music, brunch, beer tastings and even dueling pianos.
The
Apple Barrel farm market is just feet away and they have ice cream, gifts, honey, pies and fresh picked fruit for sale. The Farm also has an annual sunflower maze, and this year, the
Corn Maze theme is Connecticut Pizza.
