7h agoBrooklyn residents and commuters say they are set to face some struggles after the G train partially shut down for the first of nearly 10 weeks.
The MTA says the shutdown is necessary because it needs to address major service changes to modernize the over 90-year-old signal system.
“Now we have this against us with the train,” said Dawn Eldridge, owner of Citroen in Greenpoint. “We have seen the first weekend since this has been down business has been down on Friday and Saturday evening, and it was almost nonexistent on Sunday.”
Eldridge adds business has been down about 60%, and she fears it’ll worsen over the course of the next 10 weeks. However, she says many business owners in the area hope to have special events to help bring people into the area.
