        FDNY responds to Inwood brushfire that sent smoke into the Bronx

        Residents were warned about impacts of heavy smoke nearby.

        The FDNY battled an Inwood brushfire that sent smoke into the Bronx on Wednesday.
        The fire started in Inwood Hill Park, as the area faces record-breaking droughts and wind coming from the north.

        Residents in the area of Kingsbridge, Marble Hill and University Heights were warned about impacts of heavy smoke nearby.
        "I spoke to Park Rangers, and they were the ones who discovered it. It was a small ring of fire but it quickly spread because everything is so dry," said an eyewitness.

        The FDNY encourages people to stay vigilant as dry weather conditions continue.
        There have been 229 fires reported citywide and 67 reported in the Bronx so far.
