There is a new LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Center location in Bergenfield.
The ribbon-cutting was held Tuesday afternoon at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. The new facility was designed by members of the LGBTQ+ community who have extensive experience in health and community program management.
"LGBT people have the same needs, generally speaking, when it comes to primary care. But then there are some unique needs like gender-affirming hormone therapy for people who are gender diverse and gender non-binary,” says medical director Christopher Awwad. “They might also have needs like HIV treatment or HIV prevention, as well as some sexual health and treatment needs as well."
