A gift with a story behind it.
Kevin, a Pelham Parkway resident, is shopping for a few people at L-Train Vintage, searching through racks for old-school T-shirts.
“They have really unique pieces here — things you don’t really see made anymore,” Kevin said. “I try to make it something special to show that I put in the effort to find something meaningful.”
One item that caught his eye was a Silverstein band T-shirt from the group’s 15th anniversary tour.
“I’m not the biggest fan, but I know my friend is,” he said. “With the tour dates on the back, you can’t say no to it for eight bucks.”
Kevin said he has been gifting thrifted clothing for at least five years. While the affordable prices keep him coming back, he also likes giving gifts that stand out.
“It’s a love for how things used to be,” he said. “Tour T-shirts or event shirts you don’t really see around anymore.”
Before purchasing, Kevin carefully checks the quality.
“I don’t see any holes, rips or tears,” he said. “It looks pretty good.”
Once approved, the gift is ready to be wrapped.
Just a few doors down from L-Train Vintage is Le Point Value, another popular thrift store. With multiple shops close together, White Plains Road has become a go-to destination for holiday thrift shopping — but shoppers should hurry, as time is running out.
