With Christmas and Hannukah just a few days away, AAA says this week could see a record number of holiday travelers.
AAA estimates that compared to last year, 3 million more people will be traveling at least 50 miles from home between this past Saturday, Dec. 21 and New Year's Day, with nearly 90% of them traveling by car.
If that includes you, AAA says the best time to drive will be before 11 a.m. today, while the worst time will be between 1 and 6 p.m.
While traffic is not expected to be as bad on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, AAA says for the rest of this holiday stretch, leaving earlier will also likely be the safer option.
Getting where you're going will also cost a bit more - GasBuddy says that the average gallon of gas in Connecticut has gone up 8 cents in the last week.
But, the good news is it is still cheaper than it was both a month and a year ago.
