Well, this Sunday kicks off Small Business Week, but we're not waiting to start shopping at the local places that keep our communities going. Our Tony Caputo is visiting with a variety of small businesses this morning in downtown Denville. Tony, where do we begin? Sweet vinyl baby. Sweet vinyl. Adam Badofsky is here. He is the owner, been here about 3.5 years, and Adam, I got to tell you, this is off to a great start. First of all, you gave me coffee. We appreciate that. Second of all, you got some sweet treats out here, always appreciated. Yeah, and third, you have a killer collection of vinyl CDs. I mean, this is my era. This is my generation we're talking too, yeah. I mean, I've always been a record freak since I was a kid. I worked in a record store when I was like 15 years old. I was in the music business uh business in publishing. I worked in Modern Drummer magazine for over 30 years and I was the editorial director there, so music has been. You know my passion and my and my profession for years and years. You are a drummer. Yes, I am a drummer. You kick those drums over. I knock them over all that if I had enough money to replace them every week, I would be kicking them over every week. Yeah, Adam walk with me a little bit and talk to me about the store, and one of the things I said was like, When I first came in, that it's my generation, and you're saying, you know what, the kids, the younger people today, they're in here and they're buying the vinyl. Yeah, absolutely. This whole section over here is all new sealed vinyl. They've all been, they're being manufactured now. We do have a lot of younger people who come in here. Um, and they're buying turntables. They are buying turntables. We sell turntables. They buy them and or they buy them somewhere else, but they, you know, the important thing is that they're, they're enjoying the experience of a tactile item with artwork and that they can share with their friends and just have an experience. The album cover itself, that was such a big thing. CD covers, you know, we remember when CDs first came out. Oh my God, it's so clear and everything else. And then all of a sudden people went, you know what vinyl sounds. Yeah, no, it sounds better and it looks better and it feels better, you know, it's just like so that you can't, you can't, you can't not look at that. The artwork was amazing. I would buy records when I was a kid just because of what they look like. Well, we're gonna hang out here and in the Denville area all morning long, folks, if you're into this sweet vinyl, you gotta check it out, come in and say hi to Adam and get a cup of his sweet coffee as well. News 12 New Jersey's Tony Caputo is live this morning in Denville with a look at what we can expect, Tony. Yeah, we're kicking it off today. Small Business Week starts Sunday. We're getting started on a Friday. Steve Crichton is with me. He's Danville's executive director for downtown, and you know I was saying to you earlier, Steve, I can do everything I need to do here right now. I can get, I'm putting hostas in the ground in my yard. I can go to the hardware. Store around the corner and get them. I can get some Thai food if I want. There's a variety of coffee shops as well. Greek food. We're going to visit that later. You get a little bit of everything here and then. We absolutely have everything here. It's a one stop shop, you know. You can come here, spend the entire day with your friends and your family. We're incredibly blessed to have. Uh, so many different businesses to support. I am a big Starbucks fan. OK. We go around the state. I'm always hitting up the Starbucks, but what I love about here is if I want to try something different, Sweet vinyl where we were has coffee. You got a coffee shop down the street here as well. Yeah, we have quite a few, and I've got to say they're all competing for the best coffee. We're so lucky we have so many great coffee shops, including Starbucks and the restaurants as well, and you still have the outdoor dining. Here too you've got a nice variety there and on a day like today we're expecting some rain to roll in, but today you can sit outside and enjoy a nice meal. Oh, it's absolutely wonderful, and you're never going to go looking hard or it's never going to be hard to find a great restaurant in downtown Denel. We're we've got everything. We're going to visit one in a little bit, Grease Lightning, some Greek food as well. That's coming up and I like that store across the street, Steve, real quick, Times 10 Cup. That's the I love stores like that. That's such a great antique shop and they have a little bit of everything. If you're looking for anything at all, that's a great place to start. Lenny here just asked me what my first story I covered at News 12 New Jersey was 27 years ago. I cannot remember, but I'm gonna think about that. But hey, Small Business Week is this Sunday, so we're kicking it off today here in Denville, and we are at Grease Lightning. All right, now Pete Cammarata is part owner here along with Eleni. We're just talked to Pete first. He's a chef as well, and right away I said to Pete, what is this? Like Kenicky, a hickey from Kicky's like a Hallmark card. All right, is that, is that where you got the name? I got the name from that, yes, my partner's daughter is a huge fan of the movie, so we were trying to come up with a name for the restaurant. So, uh, we came up with Grease Lightning spelled with the country grease. So yeah, somebody's gonna yell at me about that hickey, but hey, it wasn't my line. It was in the movie. What do we got here, man? This looks fantastic. This is our family style platter. We have our super. Lay platter with our mixed grill with some uh gyro meat pronounced gro not gyro. We have our fresh hand cut fries, our homemade uh tzatziki sauce, some grape leaves, couple of, uh, tomatoes with some feta. This is a great platter feeds 2 to 3 people. Uh, starting price is $36 so you can't get hurt, man, that is fantastic. Eleni Dramatinos is also the co-owner here. And you have some uh fine selections here as well. Tell us about right, this is our, uh, grilled pita drizzled with, um, imported Greek olive oil and oregano. This is our homemade, uh, hummus, uh, imported, uh, chickpeas from Greece drizzled again with, uh, Greek olive oil. This is homemade tzatziki. Everything's homemade, all our spreads, and this is our spicy feta. And again, like Peter said, our grape leaves drizzled with, uh, imported Greek olive oil, which we're very proud of. Lonnie fantastic dramatinos. I nailed it. If I didn't get it right, Nick would be very upset with me because Nick's Greek as well, so he makes sure I get these things right. Oh yeah. I'll tell you, I'm gonna show you what's up my alley though in a minute because I think they're kind of cool, but Meg Olinowski is the owner of Sisters, and I'll tell you, if you're shopping in downtown Denville, you gotta stop in here because you're gonna find something you want to buy for somebody in your life, especially with Mother's Day right around the corner. Meg, you've been here quite some time now, 12 years, yes, we love hearing that over that 5 year mark, right? That's the small business guide there if you. You bet, you bet. On the crazy survive, you know. What do you got in here? And what I liked and what I was saying to Nick and Sima is I love the signs that you have there, the barn boards or what you're putting up there with all the different town names. I love things like that. Absolutely. We love to do custom, very proud of New Jersey, very proud of Denville, so love to show it off.
