Numbers show a slight slowdown in July Fourth spending this year, even as more than 85% of people surveyed still plan to celebrate.
Food costs are averaging about $90 per person, and nearly 30% say they'll spend more on red, white and blue gear.
Spending on food is projected to drop from $9.4 billion to just under $9 billion, and fewer people plan to buy fireworks.
Still, it's a busy season for The Party Shop in Union, which sells only legal, ground-based fireworks.
Co-owner Patrick Cyrana says they're holding prices steady: "We know everything else is really hard this year… but we don't want fireworks to be like that."
Cyrana, who also works pyrotechnics for major shows and is currently touring with Fall Out Boy, says the store is expanding to year-round celebrations as Party City closes locations.
