1h agoAn elementary school in Franklin Square is decked out in vibrant pinwheels to spread "Whirled Peace."
Students and staff at John Street Elementary School created a display of pinwheels on the front lawn.
Before planting them, the kids decorated a dove with a personal written pledge of kindness or respect.
It is to celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary and also symbolize their commitment to peace.
The art project is called "Pinwheels for Peace," which was launched in 2005 by two Florida teachers to promote World Peace Day.
