Jersey Proud: First annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb held at MetLife Stadium

Volunteers and firefighters climbed 2,200 steps to replicate the 110 floors of the Twin Towers.

The Sept. 11 attacks happened 24 years ago this week. There will be many events around New Jersey to mark the occasion.
It started with what will become an annual event at MetLife Stadium. Over the weekend, they held the first New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Volunteers and firefighters climbed 2,200 steps to replicate the 110 floors of the Twin Towers.
Nearly 350 firefighters were killed in the attack. The money raised at the event will go to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Crews from Secaucus, Rutherford, Edison, Perth Amboy and Green Pond participated in the event – to name a few.
