Peter Yuscaitis is carrying on the tradition as Fair Lawn’s official town crier, using his voice to announce events and share news just like people did in the 1700s.

While being a town crier may sound like a job from another century, it’s just one of Yuscaitis’ many roles. His full-time job is serving as a sergeant with the New Jersey Transit Police.

He was recently recognized by the department through its “Beyond the Badge” series, which highlights officers making a difference both on and off the job.

Just one piece of advice - if you meet him, you might want to bring earplugs.
