A Wayne firefighter is celebrating an incredible milestone - 60 years of volunteer service to his community. John “JB” Babitz has been a member of Preakness Volunteer Fire Company No. 4 since 1966.

Over the course of six decades, he has dedicated countless hours to serving Wayne and helping protect residents, including three years as the company’s chief. The department honored Babitz for his commitment and decades of service. Beyond responding to emergencies, Babitz has also played an important role in mentoring generations of firefighters across Wayne.
