        ‘It’s comfort for us.’ Oxford community finds solace at high school football games

        School athletic teams have organized food drives for those in need, and both the football squad and Oxford High School Booster Club have raised money for first responders.

        As the community of Oxford continues recovering from the August flood, some have found solace in watching the town’s high school football team play.
        “The whole town and everything were up in the air with the season,” says resident Vicki Murray. “We couldn’t get buses in, we couldn’t have buses going out, and we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to have home games.”
        School athletic teams have organized food drives for those in need, and both the football squad and Oxford High School Booster Club have raised money for first responders.
        “I think it’s comfort for us to be able to come here as a town,” says resident Kristy Sciarrino. “We’re Oxford Strong on and off the field.”
