It was a final farewell to two brothers who police said were stabbed and killed earlier this month.

Hundreds gathered on Saturday for a wake service in Parkchester as they mourned the loss of two brothers from Peru.

“We are really sad and emotional because my sons are not here,” said Ernesto Guevara Fernandez, who said he flew from Peru on an emergency visa.

Police said 27-year-old Leider Guevara Cuba and 24-year-old Ernesto Hector Guevara Cubas were stabbed and killed around 5 a.m. on Oct. 13.

Witnesses previously told News 12 that the brothers were attending a birthday party on Stratford Avenue near Westchester Avenue in Soundview when a fight broke out outside. Police said the siblings were taken to hospitals where they were pronounced dead.

“You have to understand it’s an unmeasurable pain,” Guevara Fernandez said. “I could never anticipate this because my sons are good men. Hard workers.”

Police said, as of Saturday night, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. The victims’ father had a message outside of the funeral home.

“You should take care of others,” Guevara Fernandez said. “Nobody knows what will happen in this life except God.”

News 12 was told that wake services will continue in Parkchester on Sunday. The victims’ bodies will then be sent to Peru, where more services will be held.
