High school women in Section 1 just made history in wrestling.
They competed in the conference's first varsity girls freestyle wrestling multi-meet on Tuesday.
Croton-Harmon High School was the host.
Cecilia DeMattia, one of the student wrestlers, shared her reaction to the historic event.
"I think it's a big step in high school female wrestling," DeMattia said. "It's also cool because I've been on this team for two years with a bunch of guys and I think it's something different [and] refreshing for me."
The meet also featured athletes from over five schools, including the Eastchester Eagles and Nyack Redhawks.
