A Hudson Valley EMT has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor.
According to the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Monroe, 47-year-old Israel D. Torres Jr., of Middletown, is accused of having unlawful sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl on multiple occasions.
Investigators say the case began in August 2025 and led to Torres being charged with sexual abuse in the second degree, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child — all Class A misdemeanors.
Troopers confirm Torres works as an EMT with Empress Ambulance Service but say the alleged incidents did not occur while he was on duty.
Torres was arraigned, initially remanded to the Orange County Jail, and later released after posting bail. He’s scheduled to appear in Woodbury Town Court later this month.
News 12 reached out to Empress Ambulance Service for comment regarding Torres’ employment status but has not yet received a response.
State police say the investigation remains active.
