2h agoA World War II veteran celebrated his 99th birthday Wednesday in Lake Ronkonkoma - and got a special surprise from another hero.
Veterans from across the island joined East Northport's Gene Levy at BLD's Restaurant to recognize his special day.
Also joining the celebration was Holocaust survivor and veteran Jean Sklar, who wanted to pay tribute to the local hero.
News 12 was told Paws of War paid tribute to Levy by covering the cost of the event.
