A tour helicopter from New York was forced to make an emergency landing in Englewood Cliffs after experiencing a mechanical failure Tuesday.
According to Palisades Interstate Parkway police, who patrol an area alongside the Hudson River, officers were contacted by the pilot at approximately 11:47 a.m., reporting the mechanical issues. Police were told the chopper would be attempting to make an emergency landing near the river.
A short time later, the Bell 407GX helicopter, owned by HeliNY.com, was able to land safely in the parking lot of Englewood marina. Police say the aircraft was giving six passengers a tour of New York City when the issues arose.
"The six passengers and pilot were all able to safely exit the aircraft and did not require any medical attention," police said in a statement.
Following the landing, the helicopter was towed from the scene.
