Brewster police are mourning another loss within their ranks. The department says Jose Colon died Friday while off duty. Colon was with the department for two months after 20 years in the NYPD. The passing marked the second Brewster officer to die in as many weeks.
Officials say a Newburgh man will spend seven years behind bars for rape. Obed Arellano-Mendez pleaded guilty to raping a person who could not give consent due to physical ailments in October. Arellano-Menden also received five years’ probation and must register as a sex offender.
A Westchester County man was arrested for stealing hundreds of thousands from his Connecticut employer. Authorities say South Salem native Ryan Jensen robbed $385,000 worth of electrical equipment and tools last year from Mars Electric. Jensen faces larceny and other charges and is due back in court on May 17.
