Rafael Bueno, a longtime Haverstraw village trustee who died last week, was honored with a tribute on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday.
“Rafael dedicated more than 20 years to the community he loved. First elected in 2003, he made history as the first Dominican councilman in the town of Haverstraw,” Rep. Mike Lawler said.
The 66-year-old member of the Haverstraw Village Board died last Tuesday, according to the George Holt Funeral Home. He had served on the board since 2003 and also held the role of fire commissioner.
Bueno is survived by his wife, four children and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will take place Saturday at the Holt Funeral Home
