NJ Transit is making it a mission to improve the traveling experience for commuters. As part of its improvement process, it is hosting three sessions to allow riders to share their concerns and experiences.
It comes after Gov. Mikie Sherrill issued an executive order last week, giving NJ Transit 45 days to develop an action plan addressing four major categories: cleanliness, safety, accessibility and digital experience.
The first of the three virtual sessions took place on March 31 and each person was granted two minutes to speak and vent on issues they have experienced.
“It has taken over four hours to get from Brick Township to Newark airport," shared one participant. "As we getting closer to the airport, the dispatcher wanted to add another trip on, and we could have missed our flight. If a passenger is going to an airport, they need to not add additional trips on. We got to our destination Minneapolis/St. Paul faster than we got across the state of New Jersey."
Two more sessions are scheduled this week: Thursday, April 2, from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, April 4, from 9-11 a.m. Those who are interested in speaking must pre-register for a potential opportunity.
