The search is on for the man behind a robbery that turned violent inside a Bronx deli in University Heights.
Police say a middle-aged man walked into Deli and Beer on Jerome Avenue, just before 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
Video shows the suspect perusing around before swiping six packs of beer, then heading for the exit.
Detectives say a 24-year-old man tried to stop him, but the suspect got violent. He flashed a gun and punched the victim in the face, before running away.
The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.
A worker at the deli said the suspect is no stranger to the store— he was previously spotted by cameras steeling a 24-pack of Coronas.
Information on the previous incident was not immediately available.
The suspect is described as 55 to 60 years old, with gray and black facial hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black jeans and black sneakers.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
