Lawmakers at the State Capitol on Monday revised a controversial ban on new gas-powered leaf blowers, restricting it to state agencies after 2027.
The original proposal faced pushback, leading to the scaled-back bill. State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, D-Westport, said, "Ultimately we will come up with, if not a ban, some significant limits on the use of gas-powered blowers."
State Rep. Doug Dubitsky, R-Chaplin, countered, "I don't think that we should be mandating that, even the state, use the most expensive alternative."
