The Greenwich Police Department issued a warning Tuesday about a transnational criminal organization believed to be breaking into homes.
The group is known to law enforcement as the South American Theft Group. Police say SATG has targeted high-valued homes in the tri-state area that are or appear to be vacant at the time of the burglaries.
According to a release from Greenwich police, the burglaries may involve SATG suspects who were recently arrested in New York. They say they are working with New York law enforcement agencies.
Greenwich police is advising residents to take precautions, “such as using an alarm system, motion lights outside, timed lights or TV on inside, and do not leave mail, newspapers or other packages outside.”
