Gov. Phil Murphy issued his third round of clemencies – pardoning 40 people.
This latest round marks nearly 170 people getting a second chance.
Since the creation of New Jersey’s Clemency Advisory Board, more than 4,500 people have applied for clemency.
Tuesday’s pardons include 72-year-old Clourer Grady, who was convicted of drug possession charges in the late 1980s.
Grady says she has since cleaned up her life, gotten a degree and become a drug and alcohol counselor for Trinitas Regional Medical Center. She calls her full pardon a “true blessing.”
