Interstate 80 is expected to fully reopen in Morris County four days ahead of schedule, according to Gov. Phil Murphy.
Parts of the interstate have been closed for several months while crews made repairs to several sinkholes that opened up in the roadway.
The governor says that all three eastbound lanes on I-80 will open on Saturday. The westbound lanes were already reopened last week, 11 days ahead of schedule.
“I am thrilled to see all lanes of I-80 open safely this weekend so we can ensure that New Jerseyans can get to where they need to go efficiently and safely,” Murphy wrote in a statement.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation says that before the reopening, the eastbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday to complete final paving and striping. The detours will be at Exit 34/Wharton/Dover/Sparta.
