Gov. Ned Lamont is urging motorists to avoid travel Friday evening as a snowstorm moves into Connecticut.
Officials say anyone who must drive should use caution and give snowplows plenty of space to clear the roads safely.
Motorists are also reminded to avoid crowding plows and take extra precautions during hazardous conditions.
Cities including Norwalk, Stamford, Newington and Waterbury have declared snow emergencies. Any vehicles on the city’s snow emergency routes must be removed.
AAA has some winter safety tips:
- Avoid driving when the snow is falling, and don't use cruise control.
- Drive a lot slower than normal.
- Don't tailgate and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
