ALERTS: Winter storm warnings and advisories are in effect for much of central and northern New Jersey because of impactful snow and ice.
FORECAST
A high-impact winter storm will move across New Jersey tonight into Saturday morning, bringing 4 to 8 inches of snow to northern areas, with a chance for a snow band to produce up to 8 to 12 inches.
In central New Jersey, 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected before a changeover to sleet and ice.
Sleet and freezing rain will arrive through the evening and overnight, creating a dangerous glaze on roads and sidewalks in communities along the Delaware River, the Trenton-Philadelphia metro area, and across Ocean County.
This glaze could make travel extremely hazardous. Wait until precipitation ends before heading out when an ice storm is in progress.
Conditions will worsen through 2 a.m. before the storm slowly tapers, with lingering snow showers into Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon will be windy, but the sun will return.
Sunday will be partly sunny, chilly, and brisk.
Rain returns Sunday night into Monday, melting some of the snow and creating puddles.
