Gotham FC will move its home matches from New Jersey to Etihad Park in Queens beginning in 2028, the club and New York officials announced Tuesday.
The two-time reigning National Women's Soccer League champions will play at Etihad Park, New York City's first soccer-specific stadium, which is scheduled to open in spring 2027. The venue will also be home to Major League Soccer's New York City FC.
Gotham FC currently plays its home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison. The club said the move will improve access for fans, placing more than 3 million additional people within a 75-minute trip by public transit.
Despite relocating its home stadium, Gotham FC said it remains committed to New Jersey through plans for its first dedicated training facility in Whippany, where renovations are expected to be completed in 2027.
Governor Kathy Hochul called the agreement a milestone for women's sports, while Gotham FC Governor Carolyn Tisch Blodgett said the move reflects the club's ambition to become "one of the world's most iconic clubs" by providing a world-class environment for players and fans.
In addition to MLS and NWSL matches, Etihad Park is expected to host international soccer events, including men's and women's Olympic soccer matches in 2028, along with concerts and other sporting events.
