Two New Canaan lifeguards are being recognized for their quick actions after a man drove his vehicle into the pool at Waveny Park.

Michael D'Urso and Katie Quill were honored by First Selectman Dionna Carlson and other town officials for their role in helping save the driver following the incident.

Town leaders praised the pair for their fast response and professionalism during the emergency, crediting their actions with helping prevent a tragedy.

Officials congratulated D'Urso and Quill on their lifesaving efforts and thanked them for their service to the community.
