Girls in Aviation Day is taking off in Westchester County, where about 75 girls ages 8 to 18 are expected to attend an event aimed at inspiring interest in STEM careers, with a focus on aviation and aerospace.

Hosted by Women in Aviation, the program gives participants the chance to meet pilots, flight attendants and other aviation professionals while learning about career opportunities in the industry.

According to the organization and the FAA, women accounted for just 10.8% of pilots in 2024, and organizers hope events like this will encourage more young women to pursue careers in aviation.
