A 19-year-old Freehold man has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder in the stabbing of a woman at a Jackson apartment complex, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Jaden Thompson was sentenced Friday after
pleading guilty to attempted murder, endangering the welfare of a child and eluding police.
Prosecutors said Jackson police responded to the Paragon Apartments on Larsen Road on Nov. 27, 2025, and found a woman with a stab wound to her abdomen. A 19-month-old infant was also found in the area where the stabbing occurred but was not injured.
The woman was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she was treated and later released.
Investigators identified Thompson as the person responsible for the stabbing and determined that he fled the area in a black Hyundai Sonata, prosecutors said.
The following day, Edison police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Thompson sped away and crashed the car before attempting to flee on foot, according to prosecutors.
He was arrested nearby.
Thompson received a 10-year sentence for attempted murder and separate five-year sentences for child endangerment and eluding. The sentences will run concurrently.
Under New Jersey's No Early Release Act, Thompson must serve at least 85% of his 10-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
