Work to finish the Portal North Bridge has begun and is expected to last the next five weeks.

This means NJ Transit riders who normally travel directly into Manhattan will once again have to find a new way into the city, including PATH, buses or ferries, as they did back in the spring.
The work to move the final track, along with overhead wires and other equipment, will finally put to rest the 116-year-old Portal swing bridge, which caused so many delays in the past.
Work is expected to be completed by Nov. 15.
