NJ Transit commuters will face five weeks of service changes beginning Sunday as crews work to complete the new Portal North Bridge, sending more riders through Hoboken.
Weekday Midtown Direct riders on the Morristown, Gladstone and Montclair-Boonton lines will be diverted to Hoboken through Nov. 15. From Hoboken Terminal, commuters can transfer to PATH trains, ferries or buses to reach New York City.

NJ Transit says tickets will be cross-honored during the changes, while other rail lines will also see service adjustments, including fewer trains.
The work is part of the effort to replace the 116-year-old Portal swing bridge, which has been a source of recurring delays. An earlier phase of service changes took place in February.
The new Portal North Bridge is expected to be fully operational by Thanksgiving, with demolition of the existing bridge planned for the start of the new year.
