Three people were hospitalized in stable condition after a house fire Saturday afternoon in Cedarhurst.

Fire officials say the fire started in the basement of the two-story house and then extended to the first floor.

Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department Chief Michael Beilinson said all the occupants evacuated themselves from the home before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Seven fire departments responded to help put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

News 12 reached out to the Red Cross to see if it was assisting any of the victims but had not heard back as of Saturday night.
