Firefighters battled a junkyard blaze in West Milford on Weaver Road that involved explosions and burned for hours overnight.
The fire was reported around 10:38 p.m. with explosions heard before crews arrived. Firefighters found heavy fire involving a structure and numerous vehicles.
Crews from West Milford were joined by departments from Passaic, Bergen, Morris and Sussex counties, along with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
The fire was brought under control around 2 a.m.
No injuries were reported. One nearby home was evacuated as a precaution. Crews remain on scene working to extinguish hot spots. The West Milford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
The West Milford Office of Emergency Management said Weaver Road remains closed between Macopin Road and Otterhole Road until further notice.
