A fake filming scam is targeting residents and business owners in White Plains, with scammers seeking bank account information.

The scammers offer to pay property owners to use their homes or storefronts as film production locations. They may also offer paid roles in productions.

The city is warning people not to share sensitive banking or personal information with unverified contacts.

People can verify whether a production has applied for or received a city permit by calling the White Plains City Clerk at 914-422-1227 or emailing Filmwp@whiteplainsny.gov.
