A Burger King employee in New Windsor is sharing frightening details of a violent armed robbery, as police search for the suspect.
New Windsor police say the incident happened last Thursday at the location on Windsor Highway as employees opened the fast-food restaurant at approximately 6 a.m.
“I clocked in and walked to put my lunch in the cooler,” says the worker who asked to remain anonymous. “When I walked out, a man appeared and put the gun right in my face and said to me, ‘You know what the {expletive} this is.’ I was looking down the barrel of the gun.”
The male victim says he and two female employees, including a manager, were inside when a masked suspect demanded cash, and pistol-whipped his boss as she tried to call 911 for help.
“In my head, I’m thinking somebody’s about to die right here. She was pistol-whipped three times. I heard him saying he was going to kill her,” recounts the worker.
The man says the suspect got away before police could arrive and provided News 12 with photos of the law enforcement and emergency medical response afterward. He describes the suspect as a light-skinned male, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a heavy build.
New Windsor police have not confirmed any details about the crime but say no one has been arrested.
It’s not clear if any money was taken. The victim says his manager had facial injuries because of the incident.
“It’s just a horrible feeling to go through something like this. I just hope and pray that this person is apprehended,” he says.
News 12 reached out to Burger King for comment but hasn’t heard back.
