An investigation tied to a 2025 Wethersfield robbery led authorities to a home on Abbe Road Tuesday, where investigators discovered dozens of animals living in reportedly unsafe conditions, along with firearms, ammunition and narcotics.

During the execution of a search warrant at 293 Abbe Rd., authorities found approximately 34 dogs, 17 exotic birds and a capuchin monkey inside the residence. The monkey was seized because it was allegedly possessed unlawfully and was turned over to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for rehoming.

Investigators also recovered three firearms, ammunition and a quantity of narcotics from the home. Enfield Animal Control continues to investigate the conditions of the animals and will determine whether additional enforcement action is warranted.

Francisco Perez-Figueroa, 45, was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, operation of a drug factory, possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, risk of injury to a minor, cruelty to animals and illegal possession of a monkey. His bond was set at $250,000 surety.

Erica Valentin, 40, was charged with risk of injury to a minor, cruelty to animals and illegal possession of a monkey. Her bond was set at $25,000 non-surety.

The investigation remains ongoing.
