A 31-year-old Elmont man was arrested on Saturday after police say he attacked two women during a disturbance at an Elmont house.

Police say they responded to a residence on Empire Street around 2 p.m. and were informed there was a verbal argument between a man and two women.

Authorities say Faheem Winstead stabbed a 58-year-old woman in the leg and then hit her in the head with a flower pot, giving her a laceration.

Police then say he broke down the bedroom door of an 88-year-old woman and struck her with a cane before leaving.

Both women were taken to a hospital and are stable condition.

Winstead is facing assault charges in addition to criminal mischief.
