1h agoRockland officials tell News 12 there were 32 rescue dispatches countywide on Monday, including water rescues and a tree on a house.
News 12 was given photos and video of the Spring Valley Fire Department helping people out, stuck in deep water in Memorial Park and on Pascack Road. The department says its volunteer members helped nine people get to safety.
“People don’t realize how fast the water can rise or can sweep you away," said Kenneth Conjura, battalion chief with Spring Valley F.D.. "People get caught in these situations where they think their cars can make it through and they don’t."
News 12 saw landscapers Tuesday morning clearing trees at a home on Branchville Road in Valley Cottage where it caused damage to the roof. No one was hurt.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Nyack-bound lanes of Route 59 in West Nyack near the Palisades Mall reopened after flooding overnight which is a long-known problem spot when severe rain hits.
